Installation Guide for New Song Update Files

Applicable Models: Piano 1.6, Piano XL SD, PK-10, CX, LX, and DK Series

Step 1 – Verify the Firmware Filename

To support the new Song Update package format, the unit must first be upgraded to the corresponding Song Update Firmware (U Version).

Procedure
  1. Power on the unit.
  2. Press the 0 button repeatedly on the remote control until the Diagnostic Mode screen appears.
  3. Locate the Filename field displayed on the screen.
  4. Example:

    Filename: PIANO16.rom

  5. Take note of the filename, then reboot the unit to return to Karaoke Mode.

Step 2 – Prepare the Firmware and Song Update Files
  1. Download the firmware package corresponding to your unit model.
  2. Rename the downloaded firmware file to match the filename displayed in Diagnostic Mode.
  3. Example
    Diagnostic Filename Downloaded Firmware Required Filename
    PIANO15.rom PIANO16U.rom PIANO16.rom

    Note: Firmware files with the "U" suffix are required to enable support for the New Song Update method.

  4. Format a USB flash drive using the FAT32 file system.
  5. Copy the renamed firmware file to the root directory of the USB flash drive.
  6. Download the Song Update package.
  7. Extract the downloaded archive.
  8. Copy KMDAT00.777 to the same USB flash drive.
  9. Safely eject the USB flash drive and insert it into the karaoke unit.

Step 3 – Install the Firmware and Song Update Package
  1. Power on the unit.
  2. Press INPUT on the remote control.
  3. Select USB/Flash Drive, then select O to start the firmware programming process.
  4. Wait until the firmware installation is completed.
  5. When the "Reboot" message appears, press OK to restart the unit.
  6. After rebooting, the system will automatically proceed with the Song Update process.
  7. Proceed to the authentication process.
  8. Verify the installation, by pressing New Song on the remote.
  9. Test New Songs
  10. Complete

Important Notice
  • Do not power off the unit.
  • Do not remove the USB flash drive during the firmware update or song update
